The Shaping Success Program provides specialized assessment and treatment for individuals accused or convicted of sexually motivated offenses, as well as those engaging in compulsive sexual behaviors.
Our goal is to reduce recidivism and promote long-term community safety through structured, evidence-based care.
Shaping Success offers evaluations and treatment. We serve:
Adults and juveniles throughout Northern California, including Sacramento and the Bay Area
Individuals accused or convicted of sexually motivated offenses (including 290-registrants)
Individuals engaging in compulsive sexual behaviors
Ages 13 and older
All genders and sexual orientations
Individuals with intellectual or developmental delays
We offer assessments of risk and physiological arousal. The evaluation can be ordered with or without a referral for treatment.
The treatment program has been developed as a minimum of one year. It begins with an intake, which includes an evaluation of risk. The individual will complete structured modules aimed at identifying and addressing the level of denial and cognitive distortions, their offending cycle, and victim empathy. In addition, the individual will learn about healthy and appropriate sexual relationships and behaviors. Treatment includes group, individual, couples, and family sessions. It includes developing treatment plans and providing monthly treatment updates to the referring program.
Sex Offender Treatment is managed by CASOMB, a board that requires all sex offender treatment providers and programs to be evaluated and certified. As such, Shaping Success and all of its treatment providers have been certified by the California Sex Offender Management Board and follow the Containment Model to ensure accountability and collaboration. This includes:
Monthly Containment Meetings
Monthly Reports to Stakeholders
Detailed Progress and Prognosis Updates
Notification of Treatment Completion or Barriers
When appropriate, family and support systems are included, particularly for juveniles
Risk levels are determined through clinical interviews and SARATSO-approved assessments, with treatment incorporating each individual’s bio-psycho-social history.
Completion is based on addressing risk-relevant factors in accordance with CASOMB and ATSA guidelines.
