Mona Afshar, Ph.D.
Clinical Psychologist
Mona Afshar, Ph.D. is a pre-licensed psychologist. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology and her master’s degree in Counseling in Iran, and later completed both her master’s degree and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Alliant International University, Fresno campus, an APA-accredited program.
She has extensive experience in forensic evaluations and providing therapy across correctional and community mental health settings in the Central Valley. Her background includes conducting forensic and competency assessments and treating individuals with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, personality disorders, developmental disabilities, and sex offenders. She has also collaborated with the Fresno Mental Health Diversion, Visalia Detention Center, Fresno Police Department, and Fulton State Hospital.
Currently, as a postdoctoral psychologist at PAI, Dr. Afshar conducts forensic and competency assessments. Outside of work, she enjoys yoga, kickboxing, going to the gym, traveling, and exploring new foods. Her goal is to become a certified forensic examiner and to help bridge the gap in care for underserved forensic populations by addressing cultural and community-specific needs. a wide range of psychological and neuropsychological conditions.
